The freshness and intensity of a Tuscan red wine
The estate
Founded in 1993 by Ferruccio Ferragamo, Il Borro stretches across the hills of San Giustino Valdarno in Tuscany. This historic estate, whose origins date back to the 12th century with the Dal Borro family, was subsequently owned by the Medici-Tornaquinci, the Hohenlohe-Waldenburg, and the House of Savoy-Aosta. Ferruccio Ferragamo revived the winegrowing activity by planting the first Politi vineyard in 1997. The estate stands out for its blend of restored medieval heritage and modern viticulture.
The vineyard
The vines for this IGT Toscana cuvée flourish on the slopes of San Giustino Valdarno, benefitting from a terroir conducive to the expression of both international and local grape varieties in an authentic Tuscan environment.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by a dry, warm climate, fortunately moderated by significant rainfall in August and September. These weather conditions affected yields but resulted in expressive wines with intense aromas.
Vinification and aging
Harvesting is done by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, followed by a minimum of 12 months’ aging in third and fourth-use barrels. The process ends with a minimum of 6 months’ maturation in stainless steel tanks.
Blend
Syrah (75%) and Sangiovese (25%).
